George Kennedy Biography Wiki

Promoter Profile – George Kennedy

George Kennedy Biography WikiPromoter extraordinaire George Washington Kendall was born on December 29, 1881. As a young man he trained as both an ice hockey player and an amateur wrestler. It would be wrestling that stuck though, as he excelled in the amateur ranks of Montreal, Canada. Moving onto the professional level at the turn of the 20th century it wouldn’t take him long to make a name for himself when on October 24, 1902, under the name of George Kennedy, he defeated Max Wiley for a version of the Lightweight Championship. I would assume it was a local version or it could possibly have been the Canadian version. (more…)

Best of ChikaraWhen you think of over the top gimmicks, great wrestling, and small crowds what comes to your mind? Admittedly, if WWF 1994 was your first guess, I won’t take points off your test. However, this is exactly what Independent Promotion CHIKARA is… Or rather WAS. CHIKARA, based out of Philadelphia, has been around since early 2002 and enjoyed a pretty decent level of success. If you look at the slew of people who have worked for CHIKARA, you’ll come up with names such as Claudio Castagnoli (Antonio Cesaro of the WWE), Eddie Kingston, Mike Quackenbush, Jigsaw, Ultramantis Black, The Colony, The Young Bucks, Chris Hero, Brodie Lee, and Bryan Danielson among a ton of other stars of this industry. The amazing run at the top for the best independent promotion in the US was abruptly ended thanks to a conglomerate known as Titor and a security force known as Condor. (more…)

Jack Curley Biography

Promoter Profile – Jack Curley

When we look at wrestling figures of the past, often it’s only the wrestlers or on-air personalities that get a mention. Somehow in the vast, figurative, library of professional wrestling history books the names of the men behind the scenes got placed on a top shelf resulting in hardly anyone ever taking them down. Rather, names like Lou Thesz, Frank Gotch, Gorgeous George, and Ed ‘Strangler’ Lewis are spouted frequently by those partially in the know, but these tremendous athletes couldn’t have accomplished what they did without someone there to arrange the events, finance the arenas, and publicize the upcoming stars. Reality Check: Could AJ Styles Make It Big in the WWE?

AJ Styles New Look Biker Joins Aces and EightsFor the last few weeks, the rumors have been swirling around the future of the Phenomenal One AJ Styles. Styles, one of the “TNA Originals”, has recently been embroiled in contract negotiations with the company that revolve primarily around his pay. Styles signed a short-term contract extension with the company that would get him through the Bound For Glory PPV event, but beyond that the future is uncertain. Of course, with that comes rampant speculation that Styles may very soon find himself in another company, maybe even the WWE. And why not, right? The WWE is the premier sports entertainment promotion in the world, and has some of the best performers in the business. CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, these are all guys that were transfers from other promotions who have enjoyed main event story lines. Surely a multiple-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion and TNA World Heavyweight Champion would do pretty well with the wrestling giant, right? (more…)

WWE Night of Champions Free Stream Download 2011 2012 2013 2014

Six Matches That “Night of Champions” Needs on the Card

WWE Night of Champions is fast approaching and something fascinating has happened: I can’t remember the last time that we’ve gone into a pay per view event and every single champion was a heel. That’s a pretty significant statistic, because you’ve got to think that means that a few championships will change hands. We’ve already gotten confirmation that Daniel Bryan will be challenging Randy Orton for the WWE Championship, and several other title bouts are starting to take shape as well. That being said, here’s a couple matches that I would like to see happen at Night of Champions. Note that this isn’t a prediction as much as it is a wish list. (more…)

Money in the Bank vs. The King of the Ring (New vs. Old)

Download Money in the Bank King of the Ring Free StreamOne of the most important things in the wrestling business is to be consistent with making new stars for the future. We’ve seen this play a major part in the downfall of companies like WCW, TNA, and even WWE had a period of being extremely guilty about it. WWE, however, has usually had one plan that they could rely on to start launching someone from relative obscurity to superstardom; to varying levels of success of course. From 1993 to 2002 (and various years it returned) we had the King of the Ring. A single-elimination tournament consisting of a prime selection of current stars just chomping at the bit for that one big opportunity. From 2005 to the present we have the Money in the Bank. A high-action multi-man ladder match where the prize is a contract for a world title match at any point in a calendar year after the victory. (more…)
